Why This Trade Would Benefit The New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans have made it clear what their plan is. Ingram signed an extension in the offseason while Zion Williamson is quickly turning into one of the stars in the NBA. This is their core for the future and it is about putting the right players around them.

JJ Redick is a solid option but he is not a long-term player. He would benefit from playing on a win-now team and right now, that is not the Pelicans. Oubre Jr. has a skill set that would fit in New Orleans.

He does not thrive from three-point range but can get to the basket and use his athleticism as an advantage. Oubre Jr. is young enough that the Pelicans would be able to keep him around for the future. This is another perimeter piece in hopes of turning the team around sooner than later.

The front office certainly has their work cut out for them and they know that moving forward. This is one move that could continue them in the right direction and get rid of a veteran name that is not a part of the plan.
