As the Philadelphia 76ers regroup after another disappointing NBA postseason exit, the organization is poised to make significant moves this offseason.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Sixers have identified several potential targets to bolster their roster via trade or free agency, including Jimmy Butler and Brandon Ingram in addition to Paul George being atop their list.

“Jimmy Butler and Brandon Ingram are potential trade targets for the Sixers, though Paul George remains the player at the top of their list,” Windhorst revealed on Friday’s episode of Get Up.

George, who is facing a decision on a $48.8 million player option with the Los Angeles Clippers, is reportedly sought after by Philadelphia, who are prepared to offer him a max contract.

However, the possibility of Butler joining the 76ers could emerge as a surprise, given his previous stint with the team during the 2018-19 season, which ended in a dramatic playoff run. He is set to earn a base salary of $48.8 million in 2024-25 with the Miami Heat, along with a $52.4 million player option in 2025-26.

While the focus might lean heavily towards securing George or exploring a deal with Ingram, who will command a $36 million base salary from the New Orleans Pelicans next season, Butler’s potential availability adds a layer of intrigue. His experience and leadership could provide the 76ers the edge they’ve been missing in critical playoff moments.

Additionally, Philadelphia holds future draft assets in addition to their own first-round pick and a second-rounder in the 2024 NBA Draft, with additional firsts in 2026, 2028, and 2029. These could prove crucial in facilitating any major trades.

The Sixers’ offseason strategies also consider the broader NBA landscape, where players like LeBron James are approaching decisions on player options and future free agency, and other teams, such as the Clippers, navigate their own roster complexities.

As the offseason unfolds, the 76ers’ management is under pressure to transform their playoff potential into a championship-contending reality, possibly by reuniting with Butler or securing another high-caliber star like George.
