JJ Redick – New Orleans Pelicans

Before joining the Pelicans ahead of the 2019-20 season, JJ Redick spent two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 17.6 points per game while shooting 40.7% from deep in his two years with the Sixers.

A “reunion” with JJ Redick would definitely be beneficial to the 76ers and their chances of winning it all this year because they have been a streaky three-point shooting team. Seth Curry, Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris are all shooting over 40% from three-point range this season, but outside of these three guys, the rest of the Sixers’ roster has been very inconsistent from beyond-the-arc. This will be an area to watch in NBA trade rumors for Philadelphia to potentially address.

Danny Green is shooting 37.6% from deep, which is above-average, but Furkan Korkmaz and Shake Milton are only shooting 34.5% and 31.3% from deep respectively. Outside of Korkmaz and Milton, the 76ers do not really have any other perimeter shooters to turn to, which is why adding Redick could be a huge addition.

The veteran shooting guard is one of the best three-point shooters of all-time and in a league where the three-point shot is so heavily valued, JJ Redick could end up being one of the most important bench players for the 76ers this year.

Philadelphia’s second-unit has not been impressive at all this year, as they currently rank 27th in the league in bench points per game and 25th in bench three-point shooting. Relying on Embiid, Simmons and Harris to make all the plays for them is not going to win the Sixers a championship, which is why they need solid role players like JJ Redick who can contribute off-the-bench.

Every championship team always has reliable secondary players they can turn to off-the-bench for production, which is exactly why adding a player like JJ Redick is a must for the Philadelphia 76ers if they want to win a championship this year.
