Lonzo Ball – New Orleans Pelicans

After trading for Derrick Rose a few weeks back, the Knicks have a lot of talent in their backcourt, but they could look to add another intriguing guard. Lonzo Ball has been a part of numerous NBA trade rumors recently and with him having a terrific season in New Orleans, he could be the player that solidifies New York as a playoff team.

Lonzo Ball is a great all-around player and has shown that early on in his career. Now in his fourth season, Ball has averaged 11.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.5 steals over the course of his career.

Not only has he emerged as the third leading scorer for the Pelicans this year, but he is also a terrific one-on-one defender and one of the most underrated defenders in the league. Ball is averaging 1.3 steals per game this year and is a very solid perimeter defender.

He would not only fit right in with the Knicks on the defensive end of the court, but Lonzo Ball could also make a difference being a floor general and overall facilitator for this team. Julius Randle handles a lot of the distributing and passing for this team, but with Ball, the Knicks could have yet another weapon they could utilize as a distributor, giving Randle more post-up opportunities in the low-post.

After being discussed in numerous trade scenarios about a month ago, talks on Lonzo Ball have seem to settle down and he may not be a player the Pelicans are looking to move anymore. His value has definitely jumped since he was first rumored to be available and if the Knicks truly want him, they may have to be willing to give up numerous first-round picks and a player like rookie Immanuel Quickley.

Lonzo Ball could definitely have a major impact in New York, but if this is the cost to get him, the Knicks should look elsewhere at the trade deadline.
