Why The Trade Benefits The Celtics

The Boston Celtics need to keep up with the other top teams in the Eastern Conference. This is a top heavy conference that has only gotten better. Teams like the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets are not legitimate championship contenders, joining Boston and the Milwaukee Bucks.

This is a deal that would keep Boston up to speed. Both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are off to great starts, but the lack of depth in Boston is glaring. Kemba Walker has been mentioned in trade rumors, so his future with the team is unknown.

Marcus Smart has played well, but the Celtics could use more help along the perimeter. They would benefit from either PJ Tucker or Eric Gordon because of their ability from three-point range.

In this deal, Gordon would be the player coming to the Celtics. He could be used as a bench piece and play very important minutes down the stretch of the season.

The Celtics made a run to the Eastern Conference Finals a season ago. If they want to get back and take the next step, there needs to be a trade coming up somewhere.
