Does This Trade Make Sense For The Charlotte Hornets?

In no universe does this trade make any sense whatsoever for the Charlotte Hornets. Rozier ranks 2nd on the Hornets in scoring, Monk ranks 5th, Bridges ranks 7th and Zeller ranks 8th. Those are just their scoring ranks and that does not account for everything else these players do including rebounding and defense.

Basically in this trade, the Hornets would be trading away four of their top eight players for an All-Star talent in Zach LaVine, who would be a nice fit next to LaMelo Ball, and a veteran forward in Thaddeus Young. Charlotte could be a team to watch in NBA trade rumors, but not for a move of this nature.

The Hornets would be absolute fools to trade away half of their roster basically for Zach LaVine for the pure fact that this team is a playoff caliber roster already without LaVine. Nobody expected the Hornets to make the leap they have this season and they are well ahead of schedule in terms of their rebuild.

In fact, the Hornets are not even rebuilding anymore and from now through next offseason, should be doing everything they can to buy talent instead of sell it! Trading away three young players with a ton of potential in Rozier, Monk and Bridges makes zero sense for Charlotte and wouldn’t be helpful.

Sure, they would have LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward, Zach LaVine and P.J. Washington, but outside of these four guys, they would have no depth anymore, lose a vast majority of their scoring and have to once again go through some kind of a rebuild to try and get some of their lost talent back.

Not only can this team make the playoffs this year, but with the level that they are playing at and fully healthy, they could be a team that gives some of the top teams in the East a headache. They are extremely difficult to guard because of their ability to knock down three-point shots and with them being a young and hungry team, they could easily give some championship contenders a run for their money!

Charlotte needs to stay away from any trades forcing them to give up any of their young talent. If they want to trade some draft picks for some key rotational guys, that is fine, but they cannot afford to tear their roster apart, especially when they could potentially grow into a legit threat in this conference in a matter of years.
