Does This Trade Make Sense For The Chicago Bulls?

The Chicago Bulls are in a weird spot as a franchise right now because while they have plenty of young talent that are continuing to grow and play at a high-level, they are still nowhere near being championship contenders. Sure, they could make the playoffs this season, but at the end of the day, making the playoffs only costs this team a higher draft pick than they will end up with.

The Bulls are not going to make it out of the first-round of the playoffs if they do make it there, so where can this organization go from here? Trading Zach LaVine may sound foolish, but Chicago would be getting incredible value for him in this trade. That’s why he’s such a big name to watch in NBA trade rumors.

Coby White is a promising young guard, but he is not really a pure, reliable point guard that the Bulls desperately need. Terry Rozier can not only be a great floor general and facilitator for this team at the point guard position, but he can easily be their leading scorer and be a lot like LaVine in the sense that he can command the offense.

Miles Bridges, Malik Monk and Cody Zeller are also all solid role players that could provide the Bulls with more young talent and depth at virtually every position. Bridges is in his third season in the league and is a great athlete that can play and defend numerous positions. Having a versatile wing like Bridges gives the Bulls someone that can not only get to the rim in transition, but can help be an anchor defensively.

Malik Monk has come into his own this season and is currently shooting 44% from three-point range. For a team that currently ranks 9th in three-point shooting percentage, Monk could fit right in with the Bulls.

Cody Zeller could be a player that the Bulls look to re-sign after this season, since he is in the final year of his contract, but ultimately, Zeller frees up $15.4M in cap space that the Bulls could utilize to bring in more key free agents or even re-sign some of their younger guys to long-term deals.

Everything about this trade makes a lot of sense for the Chicago Bulls and quite honestly, they would be fools to turn it down. Not only do they get some great, young talents in Terry Rozier, Malik Monk and Miles Bridges, but they get a ton of cap space for next offseason and even a 2021 1st Round Pick that should convey.

Zach LaVine is a terrific young talent and has a very bright future in this league, but trading an All-Star for three high-level young players and the potential for a fourth through the draft makes too much sense for the Bulls to turn down.
