Doug McDermott – Indiana Pacers

Doug McDermott is a very reliable offensive player and over the years with the Pacers, he has really turned into a solid bench player and potential sixth-man. He is now in his 7th season in the NBA and is having a career year, averaging 13.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and shooting 51.1% from the floor, 35.5% from three-point range.

While Indiana has had a lot of success early on in the year, looking like one of the better teams in the East without two of their better players not in the lineup, they could be open to trading Doug McDermott if they can receive some immediate value.

The Celtics have plenty of draft assets they could offer up in exchange for Doug McDermott, plus they have guys like Daniel Theis, Grant Williams and Robert Williams, all frontcourt players who could really aid Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner in terms of frontcourt depth.

Boston needs a “spark” they can bring into the game off-the-bench and McDermott is definitely that kind of player. He can play in the low-post or on the perimeter and could be an excellent secondary scorer next to Boston’s superstars.

His ability to knock down shots in traffic and make the game a lot more simpilier for the best players on his team is what makes Doug McDermott a valuable player and an impactful trade target for the Celtics.

He may not be much of an impact defensively, but Doug McDermott gives the Celtics that reliable bench scorer they so desperately need. He will not be the difference in them winning a championship this year, but can help elevate the play of the stars around him and take a lot of pressure off of them, which is what will potentially win Boston a championship.
