Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Philadelphia 76ers

Not only is he one of the better bench scorers in the entire league, but Terrence Ross has consistently proven to be a great weapon who is in the prime of his career. A lot of people tend to think Terrence Ross is a veteran, older player, but Ross is only 29-years old and still has plenty of years left in his career!

Ross is now in his 9th season in the NBA and over the last two years in Orlando, he has turned himself into one of the best bench players in the entire league. In that timespan, Ross has averaged 14.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and has shot 35.5% from three-point range off-the-bench.

This season, Terrence Ross currently ranks second in the league in most points by a player off the bench and is very much in the running early on for Sixth-Man of the Year. Ross could be the high-impact, experienced leader this 76ers team needs to finally break through and make it to the NBA Finals for a chance to win their first title since 1983.

Right now, the 76ers have one of the worst benches in the NBA in terms of overall production, as they currently rank 25th in total bench points per game. As a result, they tend to lose games when one of their top three scorers is missing, which could be a concern for this team moving forward given Embiid’s injury past.

Terrence Ross could be a secondary, experienced scorer for the Philadelphia 76ers and they would not have to trade too much to get him. Danny Green has been great in his role for the Sixers, but Ross could fill this role better and is an overall better offensive talent than Green. Not to mention, Ross is under contract well past this year, meaning the 76ers would not really need their 2021 1st Round Pick since Ross is an already established, high-level talent.

Bench scoring is extremely important in the NBA and with the Sixers already having one of the better trios in the league this season, it is extremely important for them to bolster their bench before the trade deadline. Terrence Ross could be the perfect wing player they need to edge out the rest of the competition in the Eastern Conference and make the NBA Finals this year.
