Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Terrence Ross, F James Ennis III

Orlando Magic Receive: G Danny Green, G/F Terrance Ferguson, PHI 2021 1st Round Pick, PHI 2023 2nd Round Pick

Since joining the Orlando Magic during the 2016-17 season, Terrence Ross has been a very reliable role player for them and has consistently been one of the better bench players in the entire league. This season, Ross is very much in the running for the Sixth Man of the Year award and could make a huge difference for the Sixers in the second-unit.

Ross is currently averaging 14.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and is shooting 40.4% from the floor. His shooting numbers are not what they should be, but that is because almost half of this Magic team is injured and they have nobody else they can depend on for production.

Not only could Ross join the 76ers and be their best player off-the-bench, but he could be a reliable fourth scoring option for them outside of Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons. This would be a major upgrade for Philly and would give them even more offensive firepower to compete for a championship.

Danny Green is a reliable, veteran, championship caliber guard and has been a great fit for the 76ers, but Ross is a much better overall player than Green and could really aid this team off-the-bench.

Not to mention, James Ennis is also a pretty solid role player and has been putting together a solid season for the Magic. Ennis is averaging 7.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and is shooting 44.7% from three-point range, making him another impactful role player the 76ers could utilize.

At this point in the season, the Orlando Magic are not out of playoff contention, but they might as well be because this team is missing almost half of their team due to injuries and do not have many impactful players to begin with. Nikola Vucevic and Terrence Ross are the only two players on this roster that have been contributing at a high-level, which does not provide much hope for Orlando this season.

Getting a role player like Danny Green and some draft compensation could be very useful for this team moving forward, which is why this trade might not be as lopsided as it looks. With that being said let’s take a look at why this trade makes sense for both the 76ers and the Magic.
