The Magic-Sixers trade features Terrence Ross to Philadelphia

After a disappointing end to the season last year, as they were swept by the Boston Celtics in the first-round of the playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers made some massive changes with their management and their roster and now find themselves at the top of the standings in the Eastern Conference. Doc Rivers has done a fantastic job coaching this roster, but Joel Embiid emerging as a true NBA MVP candidate has elevated this team to new heights.

Joel Embiid has played in 22 of the 76ers 28 games so far this year and is currently averaging 29.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and is shooting 54.3% from the floor, 40.0% from three-point range. As a result, he ranks 3rd in the NBA in scoring, 21st in field goal percentage, 12th in rebounding and is first in the league in Player Efficiency Rating.

The last five recipients of the league MVP award led the NBA in Player Efficiency Rating and all season long, both Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic have gone back-and-forth with who is in first and who is in second in this category. Embiid’s overall play has elevated the 76ers to being one of the best teams in the entire NBA and as a result, they are legit championship contenders this season and real threats to take down the Los Angeles Lakers.

With Joel Embiid looking like a real MVP candidate and both Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris putting together career years, the 76ers are primed to make a deep playoff run, but could look to upgrade their bench. They currently rank 25th in bench scoring and this team has struggled this year when either Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris or Ben Simmons are out.

Terrence Ross is one of the better bench players in the NBA and with the struggles Orlando has had early on this season, could they potentially look to trade him while his value is high? Let’s take a look at what the Philadelphia 76ers would have to give up in order to acquire Terrence Ross.
