Why This Trade Would Benefit The Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks have played 27 games this season. Danilo Gallinari has played 15, Rajon Rondo has appeared in 14, Bogdan Bogdanovic nine, and Dunn has not gotten on the floor yet as he is recovering from knee surgery. Even first-round pick Onyeka Okongwu has played just nine games.
The injury problems would not improve with the addition of Kristaps Porzingis but they would get a second star to pair with Trae Young. John Collins is having another strong season but he has not signed an extension with the Hawks, even after discussions in the offseason.
Kristaps Porzingis is locked up and having another good season offensively. Young leads Atlanta with 25.9 points per game and is shooting 36.4% from the three-point line. He is a big man with the ability to play like a guard. His versatility and ability would benefit any team.
Atlanta likes to play fast and shoot the ball from deep. These are qualities that fit into Porzingis’ game. The Hawks have to be involved in something at the NBA trade deadline. They were too aggressive to sit on their hands, especially after a slow start. If this is the move, Young and Porzingis would become the new duo leading Atlanta.
