Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Brooklyn Nets

Spencer Dinwiddie getting hurt was a big hit to the Brooklyn Nets and was one of the main reasons why they went after James Harden. They are “all-in” on trying to win a championship this year, which is why it would make sense to trade Dinwiddie since he is basically “dead weight” to this championship caliber roster.

With him being owed $11.4M this season, that is salary space the Nets could utilize to get more key players to add to their roster for depth, which is why this trade makes a ton of sense for them. PJ Tucker can help the Nets in numerous areas on the court and getting two role players who can help offensively in Nwaba and House Jr. also helps Brooklyn in their championship efforts.

Since making the trade for James Harden, the Brooklyn Nets are the best offensive team in the league in terms of points per game, but they are also the worst defensive team in the league. Defense has been a big concern for this team and if they do not address the issues they have on that end of the court, then having three superstar players may be all for not.

Acquiring PJ Tucker, a versatile veteran big man, can really aid the Nets on the defensive end of the court because of his ability to guard any position. Kevin Durant is a really underrated defender and can guard an opponent’s best wing player, but the Nets need that other defensive stopper if they are to be a true championship team.

They cannot let teams score 120+ points per night on them and expect to win a championship at the end of the season. This is the main reason why this trade makes sense, as well as the fact that David Nwaba and Danuel House Jr. can provide even more bench depth for the Nets, something they gave up when they traded for Harden.

There is really not one aspect of this trade that does not make sense for the Brooklyn Nets, the only questions that remain are with Houston and their willingness to trade away these players. Houston is very much still in the playoff picture in the Western Conference and while the season is still too early to project these kinds of things, they may not be willing to give up on their roster just yet.
