Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Houston Rockets
With John Wall, Victor Oladipo, Eric Gordon and a healthy Christian Wood, the Houston Rockets have the potential to be a playoff team this year, but with how packed the Western Conference is with talented teams, they could very well come up short of making the playoffs this year.
This organization needs to be thinking long-term right now, especially with Oladipo being in the final year of his contract and the uncertainty of John Wall moving forward. With those two things in mind, this is why trading for Spencer Dinwiddie would make a lot of sense for the Rockets.
He has proven to be a reliable point guard who can not only facilitate on the court, but he can score at a high-level as well. Dinwiddie put up All-Star like numbers last year with KD and Kyrie being out and has proven that he can be the focal point for his team’s offense.
PJ Tucker and David Nwaba are set to become free agents at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season and with some young talents emerging in Houston, Danuel House Jr. could soon be moved as well. Packaging all three of these guys together seems risky, but the Rockets would be getting good value for them as Dinwiddie can be an impact player moving forward, Tyler Johnson can contribute immediately and they also get another second-round pick this year.
Gaining young talent and draft picks is what this organization should be focused on right now, which is why they should try and trade Tucker, Nwaba and House Jr. The only question is do they want to trade all three of these guys to the Brooklyn Nets, one of the best teams in the NBA?
