Brooklyn Nets Receive: F/C PJ Tucker, G/F David Nwaba, F Danuel House Jr, GSW 2024 2nd Round Pick (via HOU)

Houston Rockets Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, G Tyler Johnson, ATL 2021 2nd Round Pick (via BRK)

Given the trades the Rockets have made this year, they should be willing to part with some key role players for the right price. This team is still very much in the playoff conversation at this point in the season, but if their management is looking long-term, which they should be, they should be very interested in Spencer Dinwiddie.

After a fantastic season last year with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving out, Spencer Dinwiddie stepped up and averaged 20.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists and shot 41.5% from the floor. This season, he was expected to be a key role player for the Nets, but went down with a partially torn ACL in the Nets’ third game of the season.

Tyler Johnson is not a high-level player, but he has shown the ability to score and can be a reliable second-unit guard for the Rockets to utilize. In this trade, both team’s finances matchup perfectly, but the Rockets could want more draft compensation in return for three key role players.

The only thing is the Nets do not have many draft assets to offer up anymore since Houston basically owns the rights to all of their picks stemming from the James Harden trade. Brooklyn could potentially add another second-round pick to this trade for the Rockets, but again, they do not have many draft picks to begin with, which could be a red flag for the Nets’ front-office.

PJ Tucker is a “do-it-all” kind of player and while he may not contribute much offensively in terms of scoring, he is a great role player that can defend virtually any position. He could really make a difference in the Nets’ second-unit, as could players like David Nwaba and Danuel House Jr. Both of these guys could provide even more scoring to the Nets, making them virtually impossible to stop offensively.

There are a lot of question marks about this trade, but hypothetically, let’s take a closer look as to why this trade makes sense for both the Houston Rockets and the Brooklyn Nets.
