Why This Trade Would Benefit The Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are in an interesting spot in the Eastern Conference. They are a playoff team in a top-heavy conference but have not been taken seriously as contenders. They have turned into a bit of a boring team in recent years but it could get interesting soon.
Both Maclolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis are averaging over 20 points per contest this season. Indiana will keep them around and have shown that they will be the players to build around. They will also soon be getting TJ Warren and Caris LeVert back from injury, too.
The breakout of Domantas Sabonis over the last few years will make it easier to make a deal such as this one. Myles Turner has incredible value at just 24-years old but does having two big men really win in today’s NBA? The Pacers’ offense revolves around Sabonis and that’s the end of the floor that has taken greatest precedent in the league .
Rui Hachimura is averaging 13.3 points per game for Washington and is playing big minutes. He could slot in next to Domantas Sabonis in the frontcourt. Troy Brown Jr. could contribute off the bench while Ish Smith is purely a salary filler to make the deal work. Indiana could use some depth as they attempt to climb up the standings in the Eastern Conference and potentially win a series come the postseason.
Indiana is looking to get back to being a championship threat like their years with Paul George. There are moves out there to be made that could get them their sooner than later.
