Why This Trade Would Benefit The Washington Wizards
In the offseason, the Washington Wizards had two long-time players on their roster in John Wall and Bradley Beal. Injuries derailed the duo over the years and Wall was sent away after demanding a trade.
Washington knows that they will get a massive return for Bradley Beal, who is scoring 32.8 points per game. It will be interesting to see what they do with him. This deal could land them one of the best defenders in the league to win with Beal instead of trading him.
It is looking like Russell Westbrook will not be going anywhere. If the Wizards want to become anything but a dumpster fire, they should look to put complementary players around their star backcourt. Myles Turner is an elite defensive player with a budding game on the offensive end.
Russell Westbrook would help him on both ends with the energy he plays with. At the moment, Bradley Beal is still around. If he stays around, the Wizards could benefit from Myles Turner’s stretch-five abilities and play finishing in the paint — setting up a destination to have a breakout season.
It seems like decades ago that the Wizards had a chance to advance in the postseason. Turns out, they are just three years removed from a playoff berth and four years removed from a 49-win season. It will take some work to get back to that level soon.
