New York Knicks Receive: DeMar DeRozan
San Antonio Spurs Receive: Julius Rande, Frank Ntilikina
The Knicks have not had a star player since Carmelo Anthony was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder years ago. They have loaded up on young talent and they are actually working out but none have emerged as a legitimate No. 1 option in the half-court offense.
RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson lead the charge for the youth in New York but could succeed better playing alongside a talent like DeMar DeRozan leading the way. His scoring punch could help the Knicks to make the jump from being a fringe playoff contender to earning a spot in the top eight.
This trade would almost be worth it to do DeMar DeRozan for Julius Randle straight up. New York will be able to throw in Frank Ntilikina, who has been a huge bust so far. He would benefit greatly from a change of scenery while the Knicks could benefit from moving one of their point guards.
Let’s take a look at why this trade centered around DeMar DeRozan would benefit both the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.
