Why This Trade Would Benefit The Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons signed Jerami Grant in the offseason to a three-year deal. This team is a long way away from competing which means Grant might not be around. During his hot start, the Pistons could look to take advantage of his value right away. This means adding some pieces for the future.
Dwane Casey has his hands full with the Pistons. He is an elite head coach but right now, the team just does not have enough players. This is where the Lakers could help. Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are players that would start right away in Detroit. They can both fill it up from deep if they are on, but inconsistencies to show up for each of them.
Talen Horton-Tucker is the most intriguing name in this deal. He is still just 20-years old and has been playing a bit of an extended role in Los Angeles this season. He is going to be a talented player for a long time.
Detroit needs to find some players to team up with Killian Hayes for the future. Jerami Grant will be 27-years-old in March and isn’t necessarily on the same timeline. If he is not apart of the long-term solution, it would benefit the Pistons greatly to capitalize on his value.
