Why This Trade Would Benefit The Portland Trail Blazers
At this point, Carmelo Anthony is not a part of the plan for the Portland Trail Blazers. He is signed for one year and will be a free agent after the season. Anthony said to make $2.6 million this season so trading him would not be difficult.
The length and price of the contract makes Carmelo Anthony an intriguing trade asset. It makes sense for the Trail Blazers to part ways with him because they would be able to get something in return. This would be better than letting him go potentially in free agency.
Markieff Morris would come in and be a rotation player for an 11-9 Blazers’ team looking to make the postseason once again. They would also get two first-round round picks that they would be able to flip in another deal.
The Trail Blazers are a team that should be better given the rotation that they have. They have the dynamic duo and Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum and now just have to put the right players around them.
