Devonte’ Graham

Devonte’ Graham was one of the most improved players of the 2019-20 NBA season as he increased his points per game average by 13.5 points, his assists per game by 4.9 assists, and his three-point percentage by almost 10%. A lot of NBA fans felt he was deserving of the 2019-20 NBA Most Improved Player Award, but it was ultimately given to the New Orleans Pelicans All-Star forward, Brandon Ingram.

The emergence of Devonte’ Graham as one of the young stars of the Charlotte Hornets moving forward with other young talents gives this organization a lot of momentum moving forward, but would Charlotte ever consider trading Graham while his value is high? The 25-year old guard could bring draft picks and immediate talent to the Hornets, giving them a chance to make the playoffs this season, especially given how well new additions Gordon Hayward and LaMelo Ball have been.

So far through 16 games this season, Devonte’ Graham is averaging 13.4 points, 6.4 assists and is shooting 33.6% from three-point range. He has had his struggles early on in the season, especially with newcomers Gordon Hayward and LaMelo Ball taking up a lot of the spotlight in Charlotte.

If the Rockets could somehow convince the Hornets to trade Graham, the young guard could do wonders for this Houston organization in their backcourt. John Wall and Victor Oladipo make up the Rockets backcourt now with Eric Gordon on the wing, but with Oladipo being in the final year of his contract and Gordon being an aging veteran, the Rockets could definitely look to move some salaries around.

Eric Gordon would be one of the likely players to be traded, possibly even P.J. Tucker, in a deal for Graham. Solidifying their backcourt should be the Rockets’ number one priority right now and with questions about John Wall’s health moving forward and the uncertainty of Oladipo’s future in Houston, acquiring Devonte’ Graham would be a no-brainer move.
