Tyler Herro

While his team ultimately lost in the NBA Finals, Tyler Herro introduced himself to the league last season with swag and shooting. The 20-year old rookie from Kentucky had himself an overall impressive season after being picked 13th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Next to Duncan Robinson, the two young Heat sharpshooters created one of the deadliest three-point shooting combos in the NBA and after the NBA’s resumption of play down in Orlando, Tyler Herro proved to be even more valuable than the Heat first realized.

In eight seeding games before the playoffs, Herro averaged 17.3 points, 3.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and shot 37.8% from the three-point range. Tyler Herro solidified his role within the Heat organization during the NBA Bubble and was integral to their success in the playoffs.

So far this season, Herro has started in all 10 games he has played in, but has missed some time due to a neck injury. Through those 10 games, Herro is averaging 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and is shooting 46.9% from the floor. He has struggled to shoot from deep, only shooting 30.2%, but he is a great shooter and will figure things out moving forward.

The best aspect of Tyler Herro’s game and what makes him a “must-target” guy for the Rockets is that he has such an understanding for the game at just 21-years old. With Jimmy Butler missing games this year, Herro has stepped up and been one of the vocal leaders for Miami this season.

He is consistently improving each and every game he is out there on the court and given his overall production on the court, Tyler Herro is going to be in this league for a very long time to come. Houston could really use a young leader moving forward, which is why a guy like Herro makes a lot of sense for them.

With Victor Oladipo to Miami rumors swirling around, the Rockets could very much target Tyler Herro if they were to try and trade the former Pacers to the Heat. Time will tell what the Rockets have planned moving forward, but from the NBA trade deadline all the way through next offseason, keep an eye on Tyler Herro to the Rockets rumors.
