Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers do not need to make any trades if they want to repeat as NBA champions this season. The front office has built a team that can become the next great dynasty in the NBA. Just because they do not need a deal does not mean that they will not make one.

If D’Angelo Russell is available, there will be many teams after him and the Lakers make sense. Some may think the return is too big but in the Lakers’ case, draft picks are irrelevant.

Los Angeles will likely have one of the last two or three picks in the first round. Picks like that are not difficult to give up on. As long as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are around, the Lakers will be contenders. This would get them a third star.

The Lakers would need some players, such as Alex Caruso and Wesley Matthews to step up, but that is possible. LeBron James and Anthony Davis would lead the team on and off the floor. A new plan would be drawn up and business would go on as usual.

Again, the Lakers do not need this trade but it would certainly give them some more star power. D’Angelo Russell is having another strong season in the NBA and could finish somewhere else. It would benefit him greatly to play for a contender.
