Los Angeles Lakers Receive: D’Angelo Russell, Josh Okogie
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Dennis Schroder, Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, 2022 1st Round Pick, 2025 1st Round Pick
This trade would send D’Angelo Russell back to the team that drafted him in 2015 but this time, to play alongside superstars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Russell spent the first two years of his career in Los Angeles and averaged 14.4 points in those two seasons.
Russell was later traded to the Brooklyn Nets before being a part of a sign-and-trade deal that landed him in Golden State. Russell has yet to find a home in the league but sometimes things can go full circle.
In return, the Timberwolves would get starting-caliber players in return. Dennis Schroder, Kyle Kuzma, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are all players that could help Minnesota right away this season. They would also add two-first round picks in exchange for their shooting guard. An important context to remember, KCP can’t be traded until Feb. 20.
Let’s take a look and see how this blockbuster NBA trade centered around D’Angelo Russell would benefit both the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
