Why This Trade Would Benefit The Philadelphia 76ers
When Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey took jobs with the Philadelphia 76ers, they both said that there was no plan to trade either Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid. Now that the regular season has begun and the Sixers are finding success, that notion could change. At this point, if someone was to be traded, it would be Simmons.
The 76ers finally put shooters on the perimeter. When they are led by a big man and a point guard with no outside threat, it would benefit the team to add three-point shooters along the perimeter. That’s where Malcolm Brogdon would come into play.
That is what they finally did during the offseason with the addition of Seth Curry and Danny Green. This deal all comes down to Harris. If he continues to play at the level that he is, then the Sixers would be able to survive without Simmons. Right now, Tobias Harris is looking like an All-Star player alongside Joel Embiid.
The 76ers are looking to take the next step this season and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. They have been near the top of the Eastern Conference in recent years but have not been taken seriously as championship contenders. That could change this season if they make the right move prior to the NBA trade deadline.
