Why This Trade Would Benefit The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors were able to win their championship two years back when they made a trade for Kawhi Leonard. This made them a threat in the conference but that has been taken back a notch this season. During the offseason, Toronto prioritized Fred VanVleet while losing key contributors such as Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol.

The Raptors still have a chance to climb up the standings in a very top-heavy Eastern Conference. They are certainly better than teams in the postseason mix early on such as the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers. If they truly want to build around VanVleet and Siakam, a trade such as this one could be on the horizon.

Lowry has spent plenty of time with the Raptors and has given them plenty of memories. At the current time, it would benefit the team to go in a different direction and give them some more depth in the backcourt.

This is a chance for the Raptors to go in a different direction. Masai Ujiri is a mind that knows what to do in rebuilding a roster. If he makes this decision, it will be hard for people to argue against it.
