Kyle Lowry has given his all to the Toronto Raptors since he arrived in 2012. He has turned in NBA All-Star seasons and was apart of the Raptors’ championship team just two years ago. At 34-years old, Lowry could find himself on a new team prior to the NBA trade deadline. The Denver Nuggets stand out as an intriguing option.
During the offseason, the Raptors made it a priority to sign Fred VanVleet. The two sides were able to agree on a four-year, $85 million deal. It seems as though Toronto is transitioning into making VanVleet and Pascal Siakam the centerpieces of the franchise.
Lowry is off to another good start this season but the team is not. The Raptors are currently 5-8 and near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Lowry is showing that he can still play at a high level. He is averaging 19.1 points in 12 games and shooting 38.7% from three-point range.
If Lowry is made available, the Denver Nuggets could be a potential destination. Like Toronto, the Nuggets are off to a rough start at just 6-7. This comes as a surprise after making a run to the Western Conference Finals a season ago.
Despite the rocky start, the duo in Denver is off to a raging-hot start. Nikola Jokic is averaging a triple-double early on with 25 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 10.3 assists per contest. Jamal Murray is second on the team with 20.3 points per game.
With the current state of the Western Conference, there is a chance the Denver Nuggets decide to improve as we creep closer to the NBA trade deadline. Here is a potential deal that could get them some veteran help in Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors.
