The Dallas Mavericks have been rumored to be interested in adding another star from around the NBA to their lineup. In this particular deal, they seem to be going in a different direction. The Boston Celtics have trade assets they would be able to send Dallas for one of their big-name players.
Luka Doncic has quickly turned into one of the best players in basketball and he is an early-season candidate to win MVP. Clearly, he is not the name that the Mavericks would be interested in moving under any circumstance. That leaves Kristaps Porzingis.
The Mavericks acquired Porzingis last offseason in a trade with the New York Knicks. They gave up a lot to get Porzingis but he has dealt with injuries during his time in Dallas.
If the Mavericks surprise everyone and put Porzingis on the NBA trade block, the Celtics could be a team interested in the big man. Boston entered the offseason with a need in the frontcourt. They did not make any moves aside from signing Tristan Thompson in free agency. This means they still have a need down low and could be interested in a deal for a stretch four like Porzingis.
This is a trade that would certainly shake up both conferences. Let’s take a look at what it might take to land Porzingis in Boston.
