This Nets-Spurs trade would send LaMarcus Aldridge to Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Nets will be championship contenders all season long because Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are finally back and healthy. With these two perennial NBA All-Stars leading the charge and the depth this Nets team has, very few teams in the league will be able to match-up with them.

Entering the season, everything looked great for the Nets, but they now face their first roadblock of the season as Spencer Dinwiddie suffered a knee injury on Dec. 27th that turned out to be a partially torn ACL. He will now miss the remainder of the 2020-21 NBA season, which puts Brooklyn in an awkward spot.

Their plan this year was to have Dinwiddie start next to Kyrie Irving all season long and have Caris LeVert and his firepower coming off the bench, but now LeVert will likely be a starter from here on out and other guys like Landry Shamet, Joe Harris and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot will have to step up and perform at a higher level.

Losing Dinwiddie for the season hurts Brooklyn a lot because he was one of their best players last season with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant out. In 64 games last season, Spencer Dinwiddie had a career year, averaging 20.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and shooting 41.5% from the floor. His production in the first and second units will be hard to replicate, which is why the Nets could be in the market for a high-level, “one-year loan” type of player.

Outside of Jarrett Allen, the Nets have not received much help offensively from their frontcourt and they could get better rebounding as a team, which is why they could potentially trade for a veteran NBA All-Star talent to bolster their frontcourt. With just one year left on his contract and him being owed $24M this season, LaMarcus Aldridge could be a realistic trade target for the Brooklyn Nets in their efforts to win their first championship.

Let’s take a look at a potential trade that would send Aldridge to Brooklyn in exchange for a veteran center, a young forward and a first-round draft pick.
