Brooklyn Nets Receive: F LaMarcus Aldridge

San Antonio Spurs Receive: C DeAndre Jordan, F Taurean Prince, BRK 2021 1st Round Pick

The Brooklyn Nets look to be one of the best teams in the NBA this season as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant return from injury and look to win the first championship in franchise history. If the opportunity presents itself, why not add LaMarcus Aldridge to the mix if you are the Nets?

LaMarcus Aldridge averaged 18.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and shot 49.3% from the floor last season before suffering a season ending shoulder injury and could be a great third or fourth scoring option for the Brooklyn Nets. DeAndre Jordan has slowly started to decline over the years in production and after a disappointing season last year with the Nets, they may be having second thoughts about the four-year contract they gave him last offseason.

This season, Jordan is still one of their better rebounders, but does not have a role on the offensive end of the court other than being a decoy and sometimes a finisher on a lob to the rim. For the Spurs though, Jordan could be an excellent veteran player to have due to the fact that this team does not have a reliable, true center.

From the Nets perspective, unloading Jordan’s contract now and bringing in a legit contributor like LaMarcus Aldridge not only fixes a massive cap space problem they have over the course of the next few years, but solidifies them as favorites to win the 2021 NBA Title.

Taurean Prince is another intriguing name for the Spurs as he has seemed to get buried on the Nets roster behind wing shooters as Brooklyn has gone with a smaller, high-volume shooting lineups. Prince played well last season, playing in 64 games for Brooklyn and averaging 12.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, and shooting 33.9% from three-point range.

With the Spurs, due to his physical nature and ability to rebound, Prince could carve out a role moving forward in the frontcourt, especially since Rudy Gay is in the final years of his career and DeMar DeRozan is on an expiring contract.

With all of that being said, let’s take a closer look as to why this trade truly benefits both the Brooklyn Nets and the San Antonio Spurs.
