This Nets-Spurs trade would send LaMarcus Aldridge to Brooklyn

Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Brooklyn Nets

Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, Joe Harris, Landry Shamet, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, and now LaMarcus Aldridge would be way too much firepower for any team to try and defend as they would have 7-9 guys who can go out and score in double figures on any given night. Watching the Brooklyn Nets with Aldridge would be like watching an NBA All-Star game.

For a team that is very financially challenged in terms of even making any trades, yet alone for a former NBA All-Star like Aldridge who is making $20M+ a year, the Brooklyn Nets can actually free up cap space to bring in Aldridge if they were to move DeAndre Jordan’s “dead” contract. He really is of no use to them with Jarrett Allen playing great and with Aldridge’s ability to play the center position, he is a better overall player than the likes of Jordan.

With Spencer Dinwiddie being out for the year now, the Nets are losing a high-level scorer in their rotation and unless they trade for someone, it will be very hard to replicate the production that Dinwiddie brought to the table with the players the Nets have on their roster. Kyrie and KD cannot bring this organization a championship on their own, which is why giving up a draft pick and a younger player like Prince for LaMarcus Aldridge makes a lot of sense.

Aldridge is an established winner, but the only thing left in his career that he has yet to achieve is winning an NBA Championship. He is definitely going to be a Hall-of-Famer, regardless of whether or not he wins a ring, but at 35-years old, this could be his last true shot at winning a title.

Unfortunately, he is not going to win one with the Spurs, but being traded to the Brooklyn Nets, the only true contender who can create cap space to bring him in, presents him with the best opportunity to do so.

While the Spurs may not want to trade Aldridge, he could very well push for a trade like this to go through near the trade deadline given that San Antonio respects him greatly and are always looking to do what is in the best interest of their players. Seeing as they make out well in this trade, it seems likely that the Spurs and Nets could get a trade revolving around Aldridge solidified.

This opportunity would be too good to pass up for the Brooklyn Nets as they look to win their first championship in franchise history. Giving up some assets to bring in a player like LaMarcus Aldridge could be the move that pushes this team over the top and allows them to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy at the end of the year.
