Why The Trade Benefits The Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are in an interesting position. They are a playoff team in the Eastern Conference but have not been taken seriously as championship contenders. Victor Oladipo has been the biggest name featured in NBA trade rumors during the offseason but it could be Myles Turner who is ultimately dealt.
The Pacers already have an NBA All-Star caliber big in Domantas Sabonis. He was named Player of the Week in the Eastern Conference over the first of the season. He has taken his game on both ends to a different level and is the centerpiece of the half-court offense as a roll man.
On the perimeter, Malcolm Brogdan and TJ Warren will be leaned on if Oladipo is traded at any point. The Pacers have their core in place and could continue to add. Sabonis would slot in at center with Warren or Justin Holiday at the four spot while Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith continue to develop outside.
The Pacers are looking to return to their status of the early 2010’s when they were fighting for an NBA championship. They might have to make some changes to their current roster to get back to that level.
