Why the Trade Benefits the Houston Rockets
The relationship between James Harden and the Houston Rockets is continuing to get worse. The two sides have been on different pages throughout the entire offseason and through the preseason. This deal will continue the reshaping that is going on with Houston’s roster.
The Rockets already sent Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards and could part ways with their other store soon. If they were to get back a player like Jaylen Brown, they would still have a franchise player to build around.
Marcus Smart and Daniel Theis are two other players with great experience in the postseason that could help. All three players are starting-caliber players in the NBA. Draft capital would just be a sweetener in this deal for Houston.
With the dynamic in the front office and Stephen Silas on the sideline, it is clear that the Rockets are changing course. This would be another move to reshape the franchise to compete immediately.
