Why the Deal Benefits the Golden State Warriors
There is no better backcourt in the league when Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are both healthy. That has not been the case over the last year or so. With Thompson on the shelf, this is where the Golden State Warriors could look to improve at the two guard.
DeRozan would bring a different dynamic to the Warriors’ offense. In recent years, they have one using speed and three-point shooting. DeRozan will not help beyond the arc, but he is a player who can create his own shot at will in the mid-range while frequently getting to the rim.
Something to take into consideration, DeRozan is another playmaking threat for opposing defenses to have to worry about slowing down. He would complement Stephen Curry well and not get in the way when he is pulling his theatrics.
This is a deal that would send a veteran player with a lot of experience to Golden State. He would be a nice placeholder for the team until Thompson can return from injury next year.
