Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Heat
On the other side of the trade, the Heat have to feel confident that they can make a deep playoff run once again this season. Sure, they lost Jae Crowder in free agency, but they brought in another solid piece in Avery Bradley. They are still a legitimate NBA Finals threat.
Kyle Lowry is the kind of piece that could take the Heat to the next level. Can you imagine a starting lineup of Lowry, Goran Dragic, Duncan Robinson, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo? That would leave the Heat with a bench of Tyler Herro, Bradley, Meyers Leonard, and Precious Achiuwa.
Moving both Iguodala and Olynyk would take some of the Heat’s depth away. However, they would be bringing in another star who could take a ton of pressure off of Butler.
After making an NBA Finals run last season and coming up short against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Heat know what they need. Granted, Dragic did go down with an injury in the series and Adebayo struggled with injury as well. Adding Lowry would give them more much-needed firepower.
It will be interesting to see what the Heat end up doing this season. Jimmy Butler and company are going to be good with or without a move being made. Trading for Lowry may not end up being in the cards, but this deal would make perfect sense and should be explored if the Raptors are open to making a move.
