Zach LaVine, Chicago Bulls
Although he was on one of the worst teams in the league last year, Zach LaVine definitely got snubbed from being named an All-Star last season. He finished 11th in the league in scoring last season, averaging 25.5 points per game, and definitely deserved to be an All-Star over some others who made the All-Star game instead.
The high-flying, athletic wing has led the Chicago Bulls in scoring for three consecutive seasons and may not get the recognition he deserves until he joins a new team. Over the years, players on losing teams have not received the All-Star recognition they deserved, much like Bradley Beal, who was snubbed from the All-Star game last season even though he finished the year averaging 30.5 points, 6.1 assists and shooting 45.5% from the floor.
Zach LaVine’s name has come up a lot this offseason in trade rumors and while he could be one of the next big name players to be traded, it seems like the Bulls do not want to trade the 25-year old wing.
It is a possibility they could have a change of heart near the trade deadline this season, especially if they receive a great offer for him, but the Bulls see LaVine as the leader of their young core and if they lose him, it will set them back even further in their rebuild process.
If LaVine does in fact stay with the Bulls for this season, he will once again be their leading scorer and could even be a better scorer than he was a season ago. He has consistently been getting better from the perimeter and while he was once known as an acrobatic dunker, LaVine has elevated his game to be an all-around offensive threat.
It would be a major disappointment to Zach LaVine and all of the hard work he has put in over the offseason if he duplicates the type of season he had last year, or improves statistically, and still does not make the All-Star team. He has earned the right to be called an NBA All-Star and given his talents, could be on-track to receive his first All-Star recognition.
