Sacramento Kings Fall Put Of Top 15 In Three-Point Shooting
One aspect of the Sacramento Kings’ offense last season was their ability to knock down shots from beyond the three-point line and work the three-pointer into their game plan. The Kings ranked 12th in the NBA in three-point shooting last season, but this year, they will fall outside of the Top 15.
This offseason, the Kings lost both Bogdan Bogdanovic and Kent Bazemore, two players who shot over 37% from three-point range last season. Buddy Hield, Nemanja Bjelica and Harrison Barnes are the only elite level three-point shooters on the Kings this season, which could be problematic.
Tyrese Haliburton was a great three-point shooter and for Sacramento’s sake, hopefully he will be able to fill some of the shooting void left behind by both Bazemore and Bogdanovic. What really hurts the Kings is that De’Aaron Fox is not much of a three-point shooter at all.
In three seasons, De’Aaron Fox has shot 32.8% from three-point range and shot just 29.2% from beyond-the-arc last season. His struggles from three-point range last season are something that will have to change if the Kings are ever going to make it back to the playoffs and if they are to find success this season, Fox will have to get better shooting from the perimeter.
Losing two high-level shooters in Bogdanovic and Bazemore will reflect on this Kings team early on in the year and as a result, they will slip a little bit in three-point shooting. Look for Haliburton and Fox to try and pick up some of the perimeter shooting slack for the Kings this season.
