Sacramento Kings Miss NBA Playoffs For 15th Consecutive Season
As it will probably not come as a shock to many; the Sacramento Kings will miss the playoffs once again. The record for the longest playoff drought in NBA history is held by the Buffalo Braves/Los Angeles Clippers, who missed the playoffs every year from 1977-1991 (15 years), but the Sacramento Kings will be joining them this year.
The Sacramento Kings have had back-to-back 30-win seasons and things seem to be getting better, but given their lack of overall talent and how crowded the Wstern Conference is, the Kings will fall below 30-wins for the 2020-21 NBA season. With Fox, Hield and Bagely though, the Kings are in a good spot as a franchise moving forward.
Both guards are high-level scorers for Sacramento and if Marvin Bagley III can have a little bit more time to get used to the NBA level, he can be an elite-level scorer in the low-post. In one season at Duke from 2017-18, Bagley was one of the most dominant big men in the entire country and could score from anywhere on the court.
Due to a bunch of different injuries and a foot injury to cap them all off, Marvin Bagley only played in 13 games last season and was not able to continue to develop after a great rookie season. This year will be vital to Bagley’s growth and it will also be vital for the Kings organization as they have a decision to make soon on whether or not they want to keep the 21-year old big man in their long-term plans.
The Kings have some solid young players that they could continue to build around, especially with Tyrese Haliburton being added to the mix, but this team is just too young and inexperienced to be able to compete in a stacked Western Conference.
