De’Aaron Fox Makes Case For Being A First-Time NBA All-Star
Looking back on the 2019-20 season, De’Aaron Fox is not getting the love he deserves. In 51 games last season with the Kings, Fox averaged 21.1 points per game, a new career high, 6.8 assists, 1.5 steals and shot a career best 48% from the floor. Since his rookie season in 2017-18, Fox has improved his points per game average by close to 10 points per game and has improved his overall shooting by close to 7%.
De’Aaron Fox’s rise to stardom seems to be growing rapidly and he is on track to having a fantastic 2020-21 campaign. In the NBA Bubble, Fox ended the 2019-20 season on a high note, playing in 6 seeding games for the Kings and averaging 26.2 points, 7.3 assists, 1.6 steals and shot 50.4% from the floor.
He proved to be not just a playmaker, but an avid scorer last year and this season, De’Aaron Fox could have an even better season. Losing Bogdan Bogdanovic opens up more opportunities for Fox to score this season and with both Marvin Bagley and Hassan Whiteside in the low-post, he has plenty of options when he decides to be a distributor.
If the Kings are to have any chance at improving from where they were last season, Fox will need to average close to 24 points per game and continue to grow as a passer. This offseason, the Kings signed Fox to a five-year, $163M contract extension and they plan to utilize their future All-Star to put him in the best situations to succeed.
