Why the Trade Benefits the Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers already have an All-Star caliber big in Domantas Sabonis. This allows them to move Myles Turner if they feel the return is right. In this deal with the Miami Heat, the Pacers would be getting two players ready to contribute immediately along with a first round pick.
As of now, Indiana still has Victor Oladipo on the roster. Players like Malcolm Brogdon and TJ Warren have emerged as scoring threats on the perimeter. Kendrick Nunn would be able to provide the Pacers with more flexibility to move on from a more expensive guard on the roster.
As for Olynyk, he is a veteran player who has been on some good teams throughout his NBA career. The Pacers are an interesting team because they qualified for the postseason in the bubble and should next year but they are not taken seriously as a championship team.
There are definitely some improvements that could be made in Indiana. This means trading some players who can lend them intriguing returns in hopes of reshaping the franchise.
