Why the Trade Benefits the Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are ready to win. They made a surprise run to the finals this year but everyone expected them to be on the rise. They have been linked to many superstars next season such as Giannis Antetokounmpo. They could learn a superstar by continuing to improve their roster right now.
The clear benefit for Miami is acquiring a player like Myles Turner. He has taken his offensive game to the next level and is already one of the best defenders in the NBA. Pairing him with Bam Adebayo would be a truly impressive combination in the frontcourt.
Turner is a legitimate rim protector and floor spacer— forming a combination that’s not easy to find in a complementary player. Also, Miami would not have to give up players like Tyler Herro or Duncan Robinson. When looking at all levels of this deal, it is a win for Miami.
The defensive versatility that both Adebayo and Turner bring to the game would make this a more successful pairing than the Pacers’ tandem with Domantas Sabonis. There is far more agility in space defensively all the while having Jimmy Butler within the unit, too.
