4 bold predictions for Brooklyn Nets heading into 2020-21 NBA season

NBA Rumors, LeBron James

Brooklyn Nets Take Down Los Angeles Lakers In NBA Finals

By winning his third NBA Championship and what would presumably be his third NBA Finals MVP award, Kevin Durant would solidify himself as one of the Top 10 players of All-Time in the NBA. If Durant is able to achieve this feat and take down LeBron James for the third time in the last five years in the NBA Finals, KD would be right in the discussion of top players in NBA history.

Not only would Durant be winning his third NBA Finals MVP award, but would be doing so after sitting out the entire 2019-20 NBA season with a torn Achilles. This would go down as one of the greatest comeback seasons in NBA history and make the Brooklyn Nets championship contenders for the next several years.

Let’s backup a second though because as good as Durant is, he will not be the sole reason the Nets win the championship this year. Between KD, Kyrie, Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert, the Brooklyn Nets have four high-level scorers who can go out on any given night and drop 20+ points on their opponents.

This emergence of Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert will take an enormous amount of stress off of the Nets’ superstar players and be the “third scoring option” combined that is needed to win a championship in today’s NBA. Realistically, the only team that could potentially stop the Nets from making the NBA Finals this season would be the Toronto Raptors because of how good they are defensively.

They showed the ability to guard Durant and the Warriors well in the 2019 NBA Finals and proved that they can sustain this high-level of defense over the course of the season last year when they finished second in the Eastern Conference. They are the only defensive team good enough to figure out a way to neutralize all of the Nets offensive weapons, but ultimately, they may have too much offensive firepower for any team to overcome.

If this team can stay fully healthy and they roll into the NBA Playoffs with the roster they currently have, they should be able to make the NBA Finals and handle the Los Angeles Lakers in five or six games. Whether it is having the ability to play small or big, the Nets can adjust accordingly to match up perfectly with the reigning NBA champs and with the role players they have coming off the bench in this lineup and Kevin Durant set to return at a high-level, there is no stopping the Brooklyn Nets this season.
