What Do The Thunder Plan On Doing With Slew Of Draft Picks?

In case you missed it over the offseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder traded away Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder, Danilo Gallinari, and Steven Adams, as well as some other minor role players. GM Sam Presti and the entire Thunder front office was extremely aggressive this offseason via trades and they had one goal on their mind: acquire as many first-round picks as they possibly could.

If there was a player that another team wanted on the Thunder’s roster this offseason, if they offered up a first-round pick, the chances of them landing said player were pretty high. Nobody knows what the Thunder plan on doing with all of their draft picks they now own the right to, but it is a pretty insane amount of draft picks they own.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, after the moves they made this offseason, now own the rights to 18 first-round draft picks through the 2027 NBA Draft and also have 13 second-round draft picks. They own 31 draft picks over the next 7 years, which is absolutely unheard of. No team has ever had this many draft picks at one time and if one thing is for sure, it is that the Oklahoma City Thunder are planning something huge.

There is no way they are going to keep all 31 draft picks as they could fill two entire rosters in the NBA with just their draft picks alone. The Thunder are definitely planning on using a vast majority of these draft picks in efforts to land at least two big name, All-Star level talents as they look to build their championship contending team for the future.

Could the Thunder look to bring James Harden back to OKC? Could they go out and trade away 6+ first-round draft picks in exchange for a guy like Giannis or Luka Doncic? Who knows who the Thunder have their eye on, but they will definitely look to be aggressive throughout the season in their pursuit to build a championship team of the future.
