This Clippers-Rockets trade forms a James Harden, Kawhi Leonard duo

Why the Trade Benefits the Los Angeles Clippers

It would be difficult for the Los Angeles Clippers to part ways with Paul George given the fact that they treated five first-round picks to acquire him. With Doc Rivers out as head coach, the team clearly wants to head in a different direction. If they believe James Harden is that direction, a trade is out there to be made with the Houston Rockets.

The Clippers would sacrifice defensive ability in this trade but they would be getting the best isolation score in the NBA. Harden is a truly elite offensive threat and would help to overcome their deficiencies on that end alongside Kawhi Leonard.

In this deal, the Clippers would also be getting Ben McLemore, who showed that he can score off the bench using his athletic ability and jump shot. This would be a trade that Los Angeles made in hopes of finding that duo that could lead them to a championship.

The season was a complete disappointment for the Clippers after being eliminated in the second round. This is something they are trying to avoid in the future and that is what this trade would hope to do.
