Why the Trade Benefits the Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets have not been able to take that next step in the postseason for many years now. They paired James Harden and Russell Westbrook in hopes of taking the next step but it was a complete failure. Houston made some big moves to reshape the franchise this offseason.
Daryl Morey is now the President of Basketball Operations of the Philadelphia 76ers and Mike D’Antoni is an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets. Now, Westbrook is a member of the Washington Wizards and the Rockets’ head coach is Stephen Silas.
This is a lot of shakeup for just one NBA offseason. Harden has been mentioned in trade rumors before and could be on the move in this one. This deal benefits the Rockets because they would complete their project of reshaping the franchise. They will team up John Wall, Paul George, and DeMarcus Cousins, all of whom are the top players from the 2010 NBA Draft.
Lou Williams is an underrated part of this deal. He is the NBA’s best option off the bench and a veteran who can help come postseason time. It would be interesting to see the Rockets with a new-look team and a new look offensive scheme.
