Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Kings

Paul George is the kind of player that a franchise can build around. However, he is much better if he is a co-star with someone else. De’Aaron Fox may not be viewed as a legitimate superstar, but he is well on his way.

Last season with the Kings, Fox ended up averaging 21.1 points per game to go along with 6.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds. He needs to improve his three-point percentage, but his ability to get into the paint is lethal. If Fox can improve his shooting, the sky is the limit.

Adding a player like George to the roster, who can be a No. 1 threat offensively and elite defender, would take the Kings to the next level.

Sacramento would have to build a better supporting cast around Fox and George. With this trade, they would be left with Harrison Barnes, Glenn Robinson III, Hassan Whiteside, Tyrese Haliburton, and Cory Joseph as their main role players. Those guys have a lot of talent, but the roster would not be a serious contender.

Despite the needs the Kings would still have, this trade would be worth a shot. The only downfall could be George being able to leave town after the season and become a free agent. If he isn’t willing to sign long-term, this would be a lot of talent to give up.
