Derrick Favors

Derrick Favors has expressed his interest in remaining in New Orleans next season. Because of the short offseason, the Pelicans could choose to keep Favors as a depth option for the upcoming season. Favors was traded to the Pelicans last summer and average nine points per game this season.

Favors is not a player who will stretch the floor and beat you from the three-point line. He struggled during the restart but could be one of the most valuable players down low for the Pelicans next season. With the offense run in New Orleans, Favors would not be required to stretch the floor. Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson are players who can contribute both down low and from beyond the arc. If Favors is brought back, this creates a dynamic rebounding duo on both ends of the floor, along with Williamson.

The short offseason might work in favors direction. The Pelicans can bring him back on a one-year deal for cheap and see how he contributes. This is a move that will benefit both size for the upcoming season.
