Tristan Thompson

If Montrezl Harrell leaves the Clippers, this will leave a massive hole down low. Ivica Zubac has shown promise but he cannot do it on his own. Tristan Thompson is a player who is used to being on winning teams and contributing in big games in the postseason. The Clippers need to keep their lineup at full strength and even improve if they want to compete with the Lakers.

The Clippers have a lot working for them in pursuit of Thompson. First, the team hired Ty Lue as their head coach. This could be used when targeting Thompson considering the to know each other from their days in Cleveland. Also, the Los Angeles Lakers are rumored to be interested in Thompson. He obviously played with LeBron James on championship runs for the Cavaliers. Bringing in Thompson will improve the clippers and keep him away from their cross-town rival.

Thompson is three years younger than Harrell. His contract would be significantly cheaper and it will come with similar production. Thompson is not as equipped on the offensive end but his defense and rebounding cannot be ignored. He will bring a toughness and attitude to the frontcourt of the Clippers.
