Why the Trade Benefits the Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers made a deal for Andre Drummond prior to the shutdown. There are conflicting reports out there. Some say that the two sides are working on a long term agreement while others think that Cleveland is looking to trade the big man.
If they can trade him in this deal, it has to be done. The Cavaliers would land the No. 2 pick in the upcoming draft which would allow them to draft James Wiseman. Collin Sexton and Darius Garland are guards with high-ceilings.
Danny Green and JaVale McGee are on expiring deals but the real draws are Kyle Kuzma and Andrew Wiggins. The Cavaliers would have wings to build around. Cook has also shown signs of being a rotation player.
The Cavaliers are in a rebuild. This trade would move them up to No. 2 in the 2020 NBA Draft while adding another 1st rounder this year and one in 2022. They would also get young players to build around. That is how you use assets to rebuild.
