Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Danny Green, Kyle Kuzma, Quinn Cook, JaVale McGee, No. 2 Pick (via GSW), No. 28 pick (via LAL), 2022 1st Round Pick (via LAL)
Lakers Receive: Kevin Love
Warriors Receive: Andre Drummond, No. 5 pick
This is a deal with a ton of moving parts and most of them are going to the Cleveland Cavaliers. This three-way deal actually helps each team land what they are looking for this NBA offseason.
The Lakers are not concerned with their 1st round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. That will not be difficult to part ways with. Also, they have expiring contracts that will be moved in some sort of deal.
The Warriors would move down three spots in the 2020 NBA Draft—- maintaining a top-five selection is an intriguing factor for them. Being able to add Andre Drummond to man the middle at the center position would help with matching up against the Lakers in head-to-head matchups.
As for Cleveland, they get veteran players on short-term deals along with some potential cornerstone pieces. It’s not easy finding a wing and it would be their chance to see if Andrew Wiggins can take the next step. Meanwhile, seeing if Kyle Kuzma can thrive in a larger role is worth the gamble, too.
As we continue to breakdown this deal, let’s look at how it would impact the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors from their individual perspective.
